The TUC is organising a national demonstration on 26 March, in response to the government's programme of fast and deep public spending cuts. Message to my UK readers: "make it a big one!"

Let's hope it's a massive success, and somehow persuades the govt to re-think its plans. However, wouldn't a "nationwide" day of action mean marches in other towns and Cities throughout England taking place alongside the one in the capital on the same day? It might dilute the one down there a bit, but overall higher nationwide numbers would reflect the strength of feeling around England - for people in "the provinces" with responsibilities and/or not much spare cash in these hard times, a day/weekend in London isn't an option.
